As Russia’s attack on Ukraine proceeds, Microsoft President has declared that the corporation would stop all new product and service sales in the region.

He noted in a recent blog post that Microsoft which is known for Office 365 is ceasing several aspects of its operations in Russia to comply with regulatory sanctions as it works in tandem with the governments of the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.

After fresh United states European Union sanctions against Russia, the tech giant has joined a growing list of businesses, such as Apple, Dell, and many others, who will no longer sell their goods in the region. Likewise, Google just declared that it has suspended all online ad sales in the region.

Microsoft which is famous for products like Microsoft Teams has also removed the Russian state-owned media website RT from the Microsoft Store and deranked both it and Sputnik in its search engine, Bing.

In addition to banning sales of its goods and services in Russia, The Company is collaborating directly with Ukrainian cybersecurity experts to help safeguard the nation’s government and infrastructure against Russian assaults. For instance, the corporation successfully assisted in thwarting a cyberattack against a prominent Ukrainian broadcaster.

Microsoft’s Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) spotted a new malware package named FoxBlade only hours before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine started. Whereas the company gave technical advice to the Ukrainian government and companies on how to avoid becoming infected, signatures used to recognize FoxBlade activity were included to Microsoft Defender within 3 hours of the malware’s discovery.

the company is especially worried about subsequent cyberattacks in Ukraine on civilian digital targets such as the financial sector, agriculture, emergency response agencies, humanitarian relief operations, and energy sector companies. The corporation has provided all of the knowledge it has on such strikes on civilian targets with the Ukrainian government since they raise severe concerns under the Geneva Convention.

Microsoft Philanthropies and its UN Affairs teams are also collaborating with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other United Nations agencies to assist Ukrainian refugees by giving technical and financial assistance to major non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Nevertheless, the corporation is also protecting these organizations from continuous threats.

Even if Russian President Vladimir Putin chooses to cease the country’s assault of Ukraine now, it will most probably be some time before Microsoft as well as the other businesses which have stopped sales in Russia resume doing business there.
